The Old-School Lexus GX Gets a New-School Display (Finally!)
There’s also some sweet-looking new paint and a black-line option package.
The Lexus GX is a proper anachronism in 2021. The tall, old-style 4×4 SUV gets poor fuel economy, uses an ancient transmission, and until now had an infotainment setup that was straight out of the early 2000s. For the 2022 model year, Lexus is fixing what was potentially the GX’s biggest flaw—well, its biggest tech flaw—and finally giving it a thoroughly modern infotainment system upgrade.
Almost the entire center stack of the 2022 GX is new, and sitting atop it is a 10.3-inch infotainment display that finally does away with Lexus’ truly outdated Enform system, which used to live in the control panel itself. The new display is bang up to date with other Lexus models’ setups and has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration right out of the box. The rest of the controls have been changed to support the new system, and the dashboard is mostly new, though, get this, it still has a CD player(!).
