Bugatti’s Gold Rush Continues With Golden Mistral Hypercar

Bugatti’s Gold Rush Continues With Golden Mistral Hypercar

One year after its debut, the limited production hypercar gets a unique spec created by the Bugatti Sur Mesure prorgam

Bugatti will bring two special models at “The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering” event in Monterey this year. Besides the unique Chiron Super Sport Golden Era, the Molsheim brand created a color-matching Mistral, showcasing the personalization possibilities offered by the Bugatti Sur Mesure program.

The Mistral comes painted in a gold shade, looking very similar to the bespoke “Doré” finish of the Chiron Super Sport Golden Era, albeit without the black front or the fancy sketches found in the latter. The lower portion of the bodywork comes in naked carbon fiber, as with the engine cover and the dual intakes behind the headrests. The mirrors also have a carbon fiber weave but feature a shiny gold finish.

For the exposed cabin, Bugatti chose two shades of leather, also mirroring the Golden Era one-off, a heavy dose of carbon fiber, and a gold finish for the EB logo proudly sitting on the steering wheel.

Bugatti’s Gold Rush Continues With Golden Mistral Hypercar

The Bugatti Mistral was unveiled to the world exactly one year ago at the Monterey Car Week, with all 99 examples being already sold out despite the eye-watering €5 million price tag. Such an expensive limited-production is ideal for personalization, and its owners can go for the optional Bugatti Sur Mesure treatment. This is what the company is trying to advertise with the gold-painted Mistral, ahead of the first deliveries which are scheduled for early 2024. It is not clear if this particular example is a customer vehicle or a pre-production prototype.

The duo of Bugatti hypercars that will be exhibited at The Quail this year have more things in common besides the striking gold theme. Under the custom bodywork combining elements from the Divo and the La Voiture Noire, the Mistral shares its underpinnings with the Chiron. The exotic speedster is said to be the last Bugatti powered by the quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 engine producing 1578 hp (1,177 kW / 1600 PS) as in the Chiron Super Sport.
