First launched in 1994, the Mitsubishi Pajero Mini was one of the most successful SUV from the Japanese automaker. The SUV was hugely popular, thanks to its small size, lighter body and impressive off-road capabilities. Mitsubishi had discontinued to the Pajero Mini compact SUV in 2012.

A new media report claims that the Japanese automaker is all set to re-introduce the Mitsubishi Pajero Mini in 2024. In fact, the new model is almost ready for the official presentation. BestCarWeb has also released a couple of renderings of the Pajero Mini. The new model will retain the square, boxy design of the previous model; however, it will come with modern styling elements.

Similar to the outgoing Mitsubishi SUVs, the upcoming Pajero Mini is most likely to get narrow head optics and a large radiator grille covered with wide horizontal slats. Mitusbishi’s mini vehicles are developed by NMKV, which is a joint venture with Nissan. The Nissan Days series and Mitsubishi eK series are also developed under the leadership of Nissan at the Mitsubishi factory.

The report claims that the upcoming Mitsubishi Pajero Mini will also be made by NMKV, but Mitsubishi is leading the development. It is reported that the new Pajero Mini will be offered with gasoline engine with a mild hybrid system. Adding to it, the SUV will also receive an electric derivative.

It is expected that Mitsubishi could initially introduce the BEV-only model in 2024. The gasoline version could join at a later stage, depending on the demand. The new model will be sold by both Nissan and Mitsubishi. The SUV will be supplied to Nissan and is likely to be sold under the different name.

The new Pajero Mini will come with a special 4WD system with high running performance. It will be launched in a 3-door version, and with all-wheel drive layout as standard. The new model will rival the Suzuki Jimny, which is a huge success for the Japanese maker. The new Pajero Mini will measure similar to the Jimny. The report claims that the new Pajero Mini will be more efficient in terms of powertrains and all-wheel drive system.

The new Mitsubishi Pajero Mini is likely to target the Asian markets. The small SUV could also arrive in our market under the Nissan nameplate.
